Biografi

Erika Hníková (born 24.12. 1976, Prague) is Czech documentary filmmaker. She studied at the Documentary department at FAMU in Prague. While still studying she already get reputation with her short documentaries. In 2004, she graduated with feature length documentary The Beauty Exchange, which was in Czech and Slovak cinema distribution and won the Audience Award at Jihlava IDFF in 2004. Her last documentary I guess we´ll meet at the Eurocamp was in Czech cinema distribution and was screened in competitions at several world festivals (Leipzig, HotDocs Toronto). From July 2006 to September 2007 she was working as an editor in chief in New Space magazine (Czech Big Issue).

1st May 2004. The Czech Republic along with nine other states joins the European Union. Before the midnight comes, three young authors find themselves at three different locations of the country. Vít Janeček is shooting in the capital, Erika Hníková is in Jablunkov, the easternmost place of the country, and Ivana Pauerová Miloševičová in the westernmost city of Aš.

Single Shot Indonesia

I mere end ti år, vender den hollandske filminstruktør Leonard Retel Helmrich tilbage til sine bedsteforældres hjemland, for at iagttage og filme de tumultagtige hastige ændringer i de år, af den økonomiske og kulturelle globalisering i Indonesien. Dafilms portalen viser nu alle tre film fra hans berømte dokumentarfilm trilogi (herunder den sidste del – Position among the Stars). På baggrund af spændinger i det indonesiske samfund, udfolder der sig, foran Helmrichs kamera, livet af Shamsudinns familien, der i slumkvartererne i Jakarta oplever sin hverdagshistorie om deres daglige arbejde og bekymringer, kærlighed og gensidig fjendtlighed. I ugen fra 21. maj kan I se de første to film fra trilogien -The Eye of the Day og Shape of the Moon gratis.

I denne uge tilbydes Dafilms portalens tilskuere en god portion europæisk eksotisme. Rundvisningen på det karakteristiske landskab i Østeuropa bliver formidlet til tilskuere i tre bemærkelsesværdige dokumentarfilm. Selv om filmene „Shutka Book of Records“, „The Mosquito Problem“, „Bahrtalo“ fortæller historier om mennesker, der for det meste er temmelige fattige, skal man ikke forvente tunge sociale dramaer. Man kan nemlig have et lykkeligt liv også uden penge!
