Biografi
Erika Hníková (born 24.12. 1976, Prague) is Czech documentary filmmaker. She studied at the Documentary department at FAMU in Prague. While still studying she already get reputation with her short documentaries. In 2004, she graduated with feature length documentary The Beauty Exchange, which was in Czech and Slovak cinema distribution and won the Audience Award at Jihlava IDFF in 2004. Her last documentary I guess we´ll meet at the Eurocamp was in Czech cinema distribution and was screened in competitions at several world festivals (Leipzig, HotDocs Toronto). From July 2006 to September 2007 she was working as an editor in chief in New Space magazine (Czech Big Issue).

1st May 2004. The Czech Republic along with nine other states joins the European Union. Before the midnight comes, three young authors find themselves at three different locations of the country. Vít Janeček is shooting in the capital, Erika Hníková is in Jablunkov, the easternmost place of the country, and Ivana Pauerová Miloševičová in the westernmost city of Aš.

This tragicomic documentary by Erika Hníková describes life in the Czech village of Běšina through members of three local associations. he heroes of the film are a voluntary firefighter named František, a hunting club member named Mates, and a member of the Sokol athletics association named Pavel.
