Vít Janeček (born 1970) graduated from the Philosophical Faculty of Charles University in Prague (Film Studies) and the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) (Department of Documentary film).
Documentarist, film essayist, pedagogue at FAMU, member of the Association of Directors and Screenwriters (ARAS).
In the 1990s, he worked as programmer of the film projects of the Experimental Space ROXY, the Archa theatre and as curator of historical retrospectives at several volumes of IFF Karlovy Vary. In the long term, he deals with film theory, documentary film and interdisciplinary relations between various art fields and fields of knowledge. He co-founded the Centre of Audiovisual Studies at FAMU where he also works. He is the head of the FAMU educational project in Burma. He cooperates at the making of his friends’ films. He publishes primarily in the Cinepur magazine and the Literární noviny newspaper.
His latest film Ivetka a hora/ Ivetka and the Mountain was awarded the main prize in the Czech competition at the IDFF Jihlava 2008.
