Biografi

Anastasija Pirozenko (1988, Lithuania) is an audiovisual artist and a filmmaker working with documentary films, video installations and photography. Currently based in Amsterdam. Her works combine personal but fundamental moments in one’s life, such as faith, limitation and fear, time perception, belief, etc. with a simple irony and delight in the routine of everyday life. Her recent films touched on a subject of a relation between a personal perception of time and the ‘actual’ one, a relation between religious rituals and a domestic routine. A short documentary film Temporarily (2011) is a personal observation of prolonged circumstances which caused confusion between temporary and permanent state in life. An essay film God’s Eaters (2013) is questioning the importance of faith and collective habit of a group of people. The film examines and blurs a thin line between the holy and domestic routine. Currently Anastasija is doing her artistic research on staged reality and grotesque aesthetics of non-fiction films.
