Jan Vladislav, Czech poet and author, signatory of Charter 77, publisher of the samizdat manuscript series Kvart, and translator of Dante, Shakespeare, Michaux and Eliot, was forced into exile in France in 1981 by the Communist regime. The first part of the film captures Jan Vladislav as he returns back to Bohemia after the death of his wife. In the second part we see him on a Sicilian beach one year later.
