CELEBRATE THE WAJDA SCHOOL 7TH ANNIVERSARY ON DOCALLIANCEFILMS

Recommend this news item

As one of few institutions in Europe the Wajda School (Warsaw, Poland) is based on the idea “from script to screen”: participants apply with their own projects and make their own films. Apart from focusing on project development and supporting young filmmakers even after they finish education the School often produces or co-produces their films. In 2008 at the Cracow Film Festival, the School was awarded the Prize for the Best Producer of docs & shorts. Thanks to the international team of the best and most experienced professional filmmakers, the School ensures high quality training programs; projects developed here often find their way to the screen. The Wajda School offers fiction and documentary courses (for both Polish and foreign students) as well as complex artistic supervision of produced projects at each stage – from development to post-production. So far the Wajda School produced over 40 documentaries and fiction films (short- and medium-length) and more than 200 shorts which were shown at numerous international festivals (such as Berlinale, Cannes, IDFA, DOKLeipzig, Clermont-Ferrand) and gained many prestigious prizes, including Grand Prix at Aye Aye Film Festival in France in 2008 (“Gadjo” dir. Kryspin Pluta), the Best Documentary and the Audience Award at GoEast Wiesbaden in Germany in 2008 (“By the River” dir. Magdalena Kowalczyk), Best Documentary at the Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival Curta Cinema 2007 (“At the Datcha” dir. Thierry Paladino), Grand Prix and Best Actor Award at Brest European Short Film Festival in 2007 (“Three for the Taking” dir. Bartek Konopka), Grand Prix at Cinema du Reel in Paris in 2005 (“Behind the Fence” dir. Marcin Sauter).
